Mel Bailey
Qualifications
Practice Nurse
In 1983 Mel qualified as Registered General Nurse at Derby Royal Infirmary before returning to Jersey. Initially working on the stroke Unit at Overdale, Mel worked for FNHC as a Staff Nurse and Sister for 17 years, covering all aspects of Nursing care in all areas of the Island.
In 2011, Mel became a Practice Nurse at Indigo Medical, and she found working with other Practice Nurses was a challenging but satisfying role. During this time she trained as a Cervical Cytology sampler and a certified Spirometry nurse with ARTP.
After the first wave of Covid lockdowns in 2020, she “retired”. Mel then joined the Covid Vaccination team based at Fort Regent. She recently undertook a 10-month post with Child Health Immunisation Programme as Immunisation Nurse.
She has now re-joined Indigo Medical as a Practice Nurse Part-time, supporting the team. The role of a practice nurse is varied and fulfilling.
When not at work she enjoys swimming, cycling and travelling off-island in her campervan along with her 2 dogs.
