What is Tandem?
Tandem listens to the conversation between you and your GP, nurse or clinical pharmacist, then drafts the clinical notes for your record.
Your GP or nurse no longer has to type while you talk, so they can give you their full attention and make sure your record is complete and accurate.
Tandem is used in both face-to-face and telephone appointments.
How it works
- The first time Tandem may be used in your care, your GP, nurse or clinical pharmacist will explain it and ask if you’re happy for it to be used. We’ll note your answer on your medical record, and it will apply to your future appointments.
- During your appointment, Tandem captures your conversation and turns it into a written draft note.
- Your GP, nurse or clinical pharmacist reads, corrects and approves the note before anything is added to your medical record.
Your GP or nurse stays in control
Tandem doesn’t diagnose, prescribe or make decisions about your care. Your GP, nurses or the clinical pharmacist checks every note and remains fully responsible for your care and your record.
How your information is protected
- Audio is never stored. It’s deleted as soon as it has been turned into text, and always within 5 minutes.
- Your information stays protected. It’s encrypted and held in secure data centres within the European Union.
- Your information is only used for your care. Tandem can’t use it for its own purposes, including training its AI, and can’t sell it or use it for marketing.
- We stay responsible for your information. Indigo Medical remains in control of your data, and Tandem can only handle it on our instructions.
It’s your choice
You don’t have to agree to Tandem being used, and you can change your mind at any time. Just tell your GP, nurse or the clinical pharmacist before or during your appointment, and they’ll take notes in the usual way. Saying no won’t affect your care in any way.
If you’d like us to update your record so Tandem is never used in your appointments, let your GP, nurse, clinical pharmacist or reception know.
If someone comes to your appointment with you, such as a family member or carer, their voice may also be captured, so please let them know.
