This test involves taking a small sample of cells from the cervix to be tested for cell changes. While a little uncomfortable, the test is quick and simple and allows for the detection of cell changes which can then be treated. All women who have ever been sexually active in their lifetimes need to have regular tests, even if they are no longer sexually active. Women are generally screened from the ages of 25 through to age 65.
These are generally carried out by a GP or practice nurse. Please discuss when booking as to whether you would prefer to see a female member of our team. The results usually take about three weeks to be processed. We will let you know as soon as they are ready.
